Indigenous African educator Osholene Oshobugie will read from her new children’s book, My Sleeping Dream: How I Learnt My Numbers, about African Indigenous peoples’ discovery of numbers as one of their many great contributions to humanity. Osholene, who is a PhD student at OISE, will show you how to use numbers to speak to the identity of African/Black children through their African ancestry and culture.

Osholene Oshobugie is an Indigenous Meritah (African) Wisdom educator and storyteller for children and families. Her teaching techniques allow the new generation to better align with their roots, Meritah’s way of life and to find harmony in modern living while preserving their Indigenous heritage. Osholene is an OISE MA graduate in educational leadership and policy and is currently pursuing her PhD in social justice education at the Institute. She is also a student of Meritah’s traditional education and Ancestral Wisdom school.
