In presenting our team, we first acknowledge, honour and validate the Divine world and the world of our Ancestors as the great force helping us to do this work. We also acknowledge our parents and all those who played a role in our lives to place us in this position to do good work. 

Repiyah (Osholene) Upiomoh - Founder & Executive Director

Repiyah, also known as Osholene Oshobugie Upiomoh, also known as Iye Uyemi, is a wife and mother with a productive Meritah (African) family rooted in her Meritah Indigenous culture, spirituality, and worldview. Very significant to her becoming and career as a researcher and educator is her life as an initiate of Meritah’s (Africa’s) traditional Ancestral education and Wisdom school of the Dogomba (Dogon) bloodline, where she learns at the feet of traditional Meritah Indigenous elders, a network of priesthood, and kingship in Western Meritah (Africa). As an author, she writes stories that honour Meritah’s Ancestral lineage, culture, tradition, and spirituality. She is also a Meritah (African) Wisdom Indigenous Educator, Cultural Consultant, Storyteller for Children and Families, the Founder and Executive Director of Meritah Wisdom Education Center for Children and Families, Meritah Indigenous Homeschool Program Coordinator, the owner of OshoIseh Indigenous African Educational and Cultural Consulting Services, the host of the Repiyah Heritage TV Show, and recipient of many prestigious awards. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Social Justice Education at OISE, University of Toronto, where she also gained her Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership & Policy, with some published academic work. She lectures and presents at schools and is invited as the Mistress of Ceremonies to host conferences and moderate events, along with breathtaking oral traditional storytelling performances, all from the perspective of the richness of Meritah (African) Indigenous culture, spiritual worldview, traditions, and stories. As a Cultural Consultant, she possesses extensive knowledge of the Meritah culture and how services can best be delivered to meet the needs of the community of the people of Meritah (African) descent. **“Meritah” is the Indigenous name with which our Ancestors referred to the beloved Land called Africa today**

Coordinator, Meritah Children Resources

Oluwatoyin Oke: Brother Oluwatoyin is a brilliant artist who dignifies his Meritah heritage through the brilliance of his arts, images and aesthetic work. He is a graphic designer, artist and illustrator based out of Kaduna, in what is today referred to as Nigeria. He possesses training in special education and experience in business operations. Through his talents and gifts, he uses mixed media to create images that nurture a connection to Meritah’ s natural heritage and greatness. He brings to Meritah Wisdom his work and business experience of over the past ten years with several comic publishing houses in Meritah and across North America. Today, Toyin is currently receiving training in Business Administration from the University of Kaduna as a way to add to his existing skills.

Coordinator, Meritah Wisdom Branding & AIR Media

Titilola Onogu-Adjei:  Sister Titilola is an excellent administrator, content creator and media producer, who takes pride in her Meritah (Africa) heritage. She lives in Toronto, Canada and supports her Meritah community with her talent. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and a master’ s degree in public health, she has found her passion in media production and content creation. Because of her excellence and very well-respected talent, she is an integral part of the Meritah Wisdom team and also a member of the Board of Directors. Titilola, wonderful Titilola, she is fondly called, will create content within our cultural context that tell our stories beautifully. She is currently the producer of The Real Lola Black Media, a YouTube channel show.

Coordinator of IT

Monday  Akponovene Gabriel:  Fondly called Ovisco from the name Ovene (derived from Akponovene)  by his late mom, is a beautiful son of Meritah with a polished character, excellent customer service, and high professional work delivery. He is a proud and reliable father of 4 kids and a husband who prides himself with a wise and happy wife. He seems to work with the notion that a happy wife makes a happy life. We feel proud and honoured to have him with us here at Meritah Wisdom. He is a proficient web developer, data analyst, strategist, and project management professional with over 7 years of experience providing tactical support, finance, and data analysis to enable effective and efficient decision making and strategy formulation. He possesses in-depth financial reporting and operations capabilities, a critical thinker and expert programmer skilled in a wide range of data models. With his remarkable communication skills, along with his team collaboration and leadership skills, he is able to drive organizational change and revenue growth. We are profoundly humbled to have uncle Akpos bring his years of experience to Meritah Wisdom.

Flat Artist

Oluwasegun Enton Oke:  Brother Oluwasegun is a naturally born talented artist, who takes pride in the family of eight that he belongs to. Family cohesion is at the heart of his daily activities, and for this reason in addition to his excellent talent, is why Meritah Wisdom considers him a viable part of the organization. As an artistic, brother Oluwasegun possesses valuable skills that include but are not limited to his ability for realistic drawing; constructive drawing; ability to draw from life; drawing from memory and imagination; knowledge of art materials and their skilful use; knowledge of the rules of perspective; knowledge of golden proportions; composition skills; knowledge of the proportions of the human head, face, and body; knowledge of human anatomy; understanding and using the techniques of rendering tonal value; and Color theory and techniques for working with colours. Brother Oluwasegun currently works as the Flat Artist for Meritah Wisdom and we are honoured to have him with us.

  2. Simone Cordice (Secretary to the Board of Directors): Sister Simone Cordice is a daughter of Meritah (African) by way of Canada, and the honoured isles of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She is a lover of language, music and “African” Diasporic history leading her to culminate her formal education at La Universidad de Matanzas and the University of the West Indies. This foundation prepared her for a journey of self-discovery and advocacy. Simone continues to use her BSc. in Biological and Social Sciences in the realm of resource management and public education. Born with a passion and heart for our Meritah family, she has researched and promoted various aspects of “Black African Diasporic” culture and is now currently an initiate of the M'TAM School of Kemetic Philosophy and Spirituality where she undergoes her Meritah traditional Ancestral education. This she does in order to learn and live in the ways of our Meritah Ancestors. As a committed member of the Meritah Wisdom Board of directors, Simone will look to be both a catalyst and connector for our people's great return to ourselves.
  3. Dr Angela E. Irene (Treasurer of the Board of Directors): Possesses many years of banking experience, and has established herself as a Researcher, Educator and Consultant in the fields of Economics, Business and Human Capital/Personnel Management. Her areas of expertise are Academic Planning, Development, Administration, Research and Methodology. She has done scholarly works in the fields of Economics, Business Development, Organization Administration, Scientific and High Technological base training in the National Economy and in the industrial sector as reflected in her published and unpublished works. She currently works with the Highest Educational Regulatory Authority in Nigeria, precisely, the National Universities Commission.
  4. Danielle Cantave (Francophone-Creolophone Liaison Coordinator): Sister Danielle Cantave is a lovely daughter of Meritah (African) by way of Haiti and most recently, Canada. She is an Educator, Artist, and social justice activist. Her robust background is in Visual Arts, Anti-Racist Education, and the dismantlement of anti-Black Racism thought, and Social injustice, as she contributes to community service. Sister Danielle prides herself on her strong foundation in African Indigenous knowledge, Critical Race Theory, Decolonial Literature, and the experience of Francophone minority communities in Canada.  She is a recipient of many prestigious awards in recognition of her excellence in community services and project coordination. She currently coordinates the Négritude book club, connecting her interest and work to numerous themes such as Haitian culture and the Creole language;  Afro-Latinx History and identity;  Judaism and African Jewish communities; Indigeneity, Indigenous lands and rights; Afrocentricity; Race and Ability; Violence against women; Anti-Black racism; Reparations; Decolonization; Veganism; Health;  Visual arts; and the Francophone minority communities in Ontario and in Canada. Sister Danielle has a Master of Education degree in Social Justice Education and is pursuing a Doctorate degree in the same field at the University of Toronto.
  5. Eshokha - AKA Alan Edison (Member): Eshokha earned his Meritah cultural name by marriage to Osho from his mother-in-law. He is a proud son of Meritah by his lineage through our profound collective history of the underground railroad, where most of our Ancestors ended up in the East Coast of Canada. Brother Eshokha, amongst some of his achievement, prides himself in being a husband, a wonderful father, and a model for which his children and wife look up to. Here, in Meritah Wisdom, he provides support for the successful day-to-day running of the organization. Eshokha is a Voice Actor, He also lends his voice to the organization when required.
  6. Shunma'at Akhety - AKA Jason Harry (Member): Brother Shunma'at Akhety is a son of Meritah (Africa) by way of Trinidad and Tobago and has lived and worked in South America since 2005. Since 2008, brother Shunma'at has been elected to be a role model for the apprenticeship government program of skill welding trade in Trinidad. His cultural background has led him to several opportunities and leadership roles. Brother Shunma'at received an engineer license in welding and currently works in Canada as a welding Foreman.
